Change your master’s loudness
Want your master quieter or louder? Change loudness makes another master from the mix you already uploaded, at the loudness or peak ceiling you choose. You do not upload the mix again, and the master you have stays as it is.
What you need
An account, free or Unlimited, with a finished master in it. See Master a track.
The original mix, still kept in your account. The new master is made from it, not from the earlier master.
Jump to a step
1. Open Change loudness
On the master’s job page, under Delivery, the Change loudness card sits under the download buttons. Press Change loudness.
Or press Songs & masters in the sidebar (Songs in the bar at the bottom of a phone), choose the song, and press Change loudness under Your chosen master.
If the page says the original mix is unavailable, it is no longer kept. Press Upload it again to change loudness and upload the mix as a new mix of the same song.
2. Choose the new loudness
The upload page opens with your mix already in place. It reads Original mix ready, and there is nothing to upload. Above the loudness, Current target names the loudness and ceiling the master has now, and the ruler marks them current.
Pick a different loudness: Dynamic (−14 LUFS), Balanced (−11 LUFS), Full (−9 LUFS), Extra loud (−8 LUFS). For a quieter master, choose one nearer the quieter end of the ruler. To keep the loudness and change only the peaks, switch Peak ceiling between −1.0 dBTP and −0.1 dBTP.

3. Master the mix again
Press Master this mix. The button stays unavailable until your choice differs from the current one. The new master’s job page opens and works like any other: see Master a track for following it and comparing it with your mix.
Hearing the new master is free. On a free account it counts toward the daily limit of 20 masters, like any other master.
4. Keep the master you want
Your earlier master is not changed or removed. It stays the song’s chosen master until you pick another. On the song page, Mixes and masters lists both, each with its loudness.
To switch, press Listen beside the new master to hear it, then Choose master, and confirm with Choose master. If the song has a listening link, it plays the master you chose.
5. Download the new master
The new master is a separate master, with its own download buttons. On Unlimited they download the file straight away. On a free account the first press asks you to pay for this master or join Unlimited, even if you bought the earlier one: each master is paid for on its own.
